    Hi all!
First of all, sorry for writing english.. in fact i'm italian, from Modena, and I don't know a word of german!!: Roll:
    I own a bmw 120d e87 (2006) with 16" original OEM rims..
Now i want to get some summer 17" rims but is really hard to find some good design, 17", 7J or 7.5J, 5x120, with an ET similar to the original 47..
In fact I found many good design but only 8J, wich is too much with the tyres I can mount here in italy on the front (only 205/50).
One week ago i bought from UK a set of awesome Cades Bern, wich were claimed to be 7j.

When they arrived I noticed that they are 7.5J, and with an ET38 are far off the wheelarch as you can see.

Wheelbasealloys.com (wich is where i bought them) claim that in UK they fitted a load of bmw 1er with these.. On italian forums I found out that some guys fitted theyr car with 8j et38 and also 8j et34!!

We tryed also to put the car on the ground, for loading the suspension and giving the wheel the right camber but no way, it is like 1cm out of the wheel arch..

Do you know a company that do rims with similar to original ET/wide with a good "CSL" style design? I'm becoming crazy on ebay etc for finding some information but it look IMPOSSIBILE to find some!

    hope to get asnwers.
    Davide

In most cases 8x** with ET35 and 225mm Tyres is the Limit for the 1-series. I can't believe that this is ET38 in the Picture. There must be something wrong with the Wheel or the Brand of the Wheel have other ET38 than everyone else.

I have Breyton GTS-R on my car with 7,5x18 ET45 and 225/40/18 Tyres on it. It's a classic design and looks great on the car. You'll find a bunch of pictures here with the Breyton GTS-R.

I also think that this is not a et38, it looks impossible to me.
Breyton are nice, they mate them 7x17, but they cost really too much.. on the official site they say about 450euros, am I right?:shock:

Venard, on the site you provided I can found only 18"..

There was a collective order here where I got mine, too. Depending on color and Dimension the price with shipping to Germany was between 1000 and 1200€ for a complete 18" set. Normally the price is around 300€ per rim (in germany)

so, for a 17" at minimun will be 250 with a collective order... they look really good but they are too expansive... I mean, if i had a 135i it would be ok.. but i just have a 120d, and with those rims i'll have a tenth of what I spent on it in wheels...

other factory? Wsp are 8j, bbs 8,5J, MAK DTM haven't answered the email...:motz:

Check again what offset those wheels you ordered have, they look more like ET28 or something along those lines... I'd return them, they're just not going to fit. Normally ET38 is no problem on the 1er.

the funny thing about all this mess is that Cades on his site say that they produce 17 7J et38...
when I recived 7.5J et38 they said "The Cades website has been amended to show the wheels are 7.5J" which means that they didn't knew yet that theyr site was wrong!! O_o
Inside the rims the ET is not easy to read, it looks like "ET38" but i'm not sure.. I also tried to measure it and I found out a 35mm, but it's not so precise.. I mean, it could be 38 or 30, I used some tape and a carpenter meter..
BTW at this point i wouldn't be surprised if the ET itself is wrong..
anyway i'm worried that maybe my car is a bit different, I'm gonna try some original 17" on to see if they fit.

Here in italy 9 out of 10 bmw 1er have original rims.. who have 17" uses original styles, like 256 or 142... In the rest of europe I can see that you mount 18" and 19" for summer, you crazy dude!

Can you suggest me some good "german style" rims? I really like the CSL style... I don't know many rim-maker, maybe you can advise me about some of them, maybe not so expansive, let say about 200euros for a 17" rim...

I would choose the Breyton GTS or GTS-R's, they're very nice but a tad expensive!

    Hi,
Do you want to return your bought rims back to the sender to get your money? For sure you can sent these rims back as there was a mistake on their homepage...;)
The Breyton GTS should not be too expensive in 17"-design I think. Where have you looked for prices of rims, only in Italy or also in other European states? Some Online-shops will also ship to Italy and it could be an option to be checked...

Ok, it was just an idea;)
In the end you should be happy with your joice, this is the main thing! I can understand your position not to spend 900,- for the 17" rims but keeping your own limit!
