    Hello guys.

I recently switched back to OEM brakes (from Performance brakes) due to the fact that i might be selling my car in September.

But i might go to the Nurburgring with my car in about 1 week time and would like to upgrade my standard brake pads (since i have to drive 1400Km to get there i'd like to avoid last minute surprises).

I'd like to know where in Germany it would be possible to order a set of Ferodo DS2500 pads for the standard calipers of a 130i or other performance pads.

Also would like to know which other brand of brake pads are available on the German market for the 130i (i mean apart from Ferodo, EBC, Roesch and the OEM pads which i am aware of already).

    Does Pagid makes a set?

Does anyone with standard pads / standard brake lines (but with "good" brake fluid like my Motul RBF660) have ever been to the Nordschleife on a 130i?

What was your experience in this brake configuration? Would it be ok?

Thanks in advance for your kind help.

    Thanks, Carlo

PS - Part numbers, prices, links to online stores are appreciated.

    Hey Carlo,

how many laps are you going to drive? Do you go to NOS the weekend in 10 days - Touristdriving-Circus (lol)? Then i also will be there.

I suggest you to go with the serial brake pads. They are good enough for NOS. Normally you dont need an upgrade otherwise you take part at a race/competition!?

I did more then 30 Laps this year and had never problems with my "normal" brakes. Neither Dics nor brake pads. I think for your last stint with your 130i its good enough. (have a look at some posts here! Some professionals (instructores) drove the 130i and had the same final conclusion - the serial brakes of the 130i are really good. No fading nothing - also when you go several laps without a stop and brake very hard (ABS).

    Greetings, Ralph

    Hello Ralph!

I might do an average of 2 or 3 laps per day. It will be crowded.

I guess I will buy the usual 8 runde ticket and then i will see...

You never know with the weather at the ring...

I will be there from Aug. 19th thru 25th with some other friends from various parts of Europe.

We might meet there what you think?

Great! I am there form 20th to 24th ;-). We can meet there!
But for these laps you dont need a special stuff for your brakes man!
The normal brakes are really good enough. Trust me.

Where are u from? White 130i as i can see!? 3 or 5 doors? What kind of changes did your 130i get?

OK, i will trust you on the brakes... in the event i die at the Nordschleife please make sure they will write on my tomb stone "HE WAS TOLD THE BRAKES WERE STRONG ENOUGH!"...

For my 130i setup and info please check this post:

    http://www.1erforum.de/viewtopic.php?p=352534#352534

Right now i have the same setup except for the brakes (back to OEM) and the wheels (i have a set of 135M replica wheels painted in black with Pilot Pzero Corsa semislick tyres in 235/40R18 "all around").

See my car picture (this pic still has the BMW Performance brakes on):

Carlo, dont be afraid. The normal brakes are strong enough. As I told you - tested by professionals, Kevin, Andi, myself and some others for many laps on the NOS...

The 130i has great brakes ;-)

Ill also send you my number. Greetz

    Nice looking Car.

Why do you want to sell it?

I think 2 or 3 rounds a day with the standard brake pads are no problem.

    Thanks a lot!

Yours is an interesting question... why would I want to sell such a great car?

I don't have an answer... I have had it for 1 year now and still very very pleased with it.

I will try to beat my best Ring BTG lap done on my previous car the Nissan 350Z last summer (8'.49").

If I succeed, then I might end up keeping the 130i for another year...

    We'll see!

This is my first ever lap with the 130i at the Ring in May 2009.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1Vfo2wVhvQ

Best lap of that weekend was 9'.06'" if i remember correctly.

I had an issue with the rear tyres rubbing hard on the car chassis (OZ Ultraleggera 18x8 ET40 + Toyo R888 235/40/18 = not good setup) so i had to slow down many times especially at both carousels and narrow corners.

    Let's see next week

Should be possible to beat your 350Z time. I did without any modifications 8:50 from b2b or b2g (however you will say). With slicks or semi slicks and a better chassis it should be much faster. A 350Z overtook me last time. But it was completely "empty" and had a race setting (also maybe better tires). I think at the end he was about 200 m infront of me... but nevermind. I dont hunt for seconds. Thats on this track too dangerous. And if im 10 seconds faster or less fast...i dont care.

But Im interested in how my car is going with the new kw v3 settings ;-)

@carlo: unfortunately you dont have your fast lap on youtube. would be more interesting to watch the line you were going there ;-)

I think on youtube you can see my other 9'.06" done with the Honda S2000 in 2007. Maybe you can see my (bad) lines there...

I agree with you.. ring fast laptime is less important than bringing the car back home safely all in one piece. I'll do my best!
